Breast Cancer Awareness Week (October) The Foundation partners with the Delta Health and Wellness Leaders to promote breast cancer awareness through a week of seminars, forums, pink rink ribbon campaign and a mile walk with survivors, healthcare professionals and representatives from the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. In 2007 with the help of the North Sunflower Medical Center employees, the Foundation raised over $2,400 for breast cancer awareness and for those who do not have adequate funding for mammograms. Healthy Breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Clause (December) The purpose of the event is to promote healthy eating habits to prevent childhood obesity. The pilot program began in 2007 at Ruleville Headstart Center, and the vision for the program is to reach all preschool and elementary students throughout Sunflower and Bolivar County. Holiday Tribute Tree (December) The tree provides an opportunity to pay tribute to friends, family, co-workers, mail carriers, teachers and many more. A special recognition card and keepsake ornament is sent to the person being honored or the family being remembered. A duplicate ornament is hung on our Tribute Tree in the lobby of North Sunflower Medical Center. Senior Holiday Art Activities (December) The Foundation has partnered with Delta Arts Alliance to provide holiday art activities to the residents of Walter B. Crook and to the patients of Senior Care and the Sunrise Program at North Sunflower Medical Center.

The wellness facility will house four centers: Wellness Center, Diabetes Center of Excellence, Rehab Center of Excellence and Community Education Center. Memorial Garden The Foundation will pave the way to health wellness through our future Memorial Garden. The Memorial Garden will be placed in an area that will be preserved for future generations to enjoy on the grounds of the North Sunflower Medical Center Campus. The garden will be built through gifts of tribute. Gifts can be made in honor or memory of loved ones through the purchase of wall bricks, pavers, concrete squares, benches, lamp posts, trees, fitness trail, trellis, chapel or bell tower. Naming opportunities are available for the Memorial Garden.
Recycle for Charity GOT EMPTY INKJET OR TONER CARTRIDGES? Support North Sunflower Medical Foundation by donating cartridges. This fundraiser is easy, free and helps us earn money for our mission. Recycling cartridges builds a strong future and ensures a clean environment. It is up to you to help make the difference. Did you know over 400 million printer cartridges are sold in the United States each year, with less than 20% being recycled? The plastic in each cartridge requires two and a half ounces of oil and each toner cartridge takes three and a half quarts of oil to produce. Remanufacturing just one toner cartridge can save about one half gallon of oil. Please ask neighbors, friends, family, coworkers or anyone that can help to donate cartridges to North Sunflower Medical foundation. Drop-off location: Recycling box in the North Sunflower Medical Center lobby or call (662) 756-4129 for more details Please wrap cartridge in paper and indicate the type of cartridge on the outside.
